Is it indifference or sheer callousness? This thought should, at some point of time, have cropped up in the minds of those who take a morning walk on the museum premises. On any given day, the number of picnic groups that visit the place can be gauged from the amount of leftover food dumped around the waste bins there. Often, those who enjoy their lunch on the lawn seem too tired to even carry the leftovers to the dustbin, or at least to somewhere near the bin as most people seem to do. Things reportedly get bad when large groups of schoolchildren visit the museum as part of their excursion or study tour. According to officials at the museum, the teachers who lead such groups rarely bother to insist on not littering the lawns. Often, the officials point out, children throw away most of the food they bring. Obviously, when food is thoughtlessly tossed away, we have quite a few `lessons' to learn. Ideally, such `lessons' also should form part of the study tours.
