HYDERABAD: Unidentified persons allegedly threw filth on Siyasat Editor Zahed Ali Khan here at Mehdipatnam on Tuesday night triggering protest demonstrations by political parties. Mr. Khan was travelling in his car, being driven by his driver Ismail, when two motorcycle-borne youngsters intercepted the car near St. Ann's College. Mr. Khan told The Hindu over phone that the pillion rider of the bike got down and threw a bucket of filth on him and disappeared even as he was rolling down the window. On learning about the incident, activists of the CPI and CPI (M), Telugu Desam and Majlis Bachao Tehreek blocked the road demanding action against the culprits. Mr. Khan told City Police Commissioner Balwinder Singh that he suspected Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen MLA Afsar Khan's role in the incident. Information Minister Shabbir Ali took Mr. Khan to Home Minister K. Jana Reddy's house to apprise the latter of the incident. Meanwhile, police took into custody three boys Shoaib and Azeem, both 10th standard students, and their friend Farazuddin studying Intermediate in connection with the incident. The two SSC students from Zebabagh denied involvement in the incident. They said they were going on the bike when the car overtook and almost hit them. TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu condemned the attack.
