Summer is only in the beginning stage, but many parts of the city suburbs are already feeling the pressure of drinking water shortage. Many parts of Edakochi are suffering from water shortage as even supply through water tankers has become irregular. As the ground water in this area has a high content of salinity, the only resource of potable water is either the pipelines or the water tanker lorries. Likewise, many parts of the Vypeen islands, including Nayarambalam, are also facing water shortage. In the coming days of summer, the city has the prospects of seeing the local people taking to the streets seeking to quench their thirst.
