HYDERABAD: The State Government will do everything required to propagate the use of Telugu, said Minister for Tourism and Culture J. Geeta Reddy. She was addressing a gathering at the close of a month-long `Apoorva Pancha Sahasra avadhaanam' by Medasani Mohan, known for his `avadhanam' since 1993. She was present at the function on behalf of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and read out his message. The Chief Minister recalled in his message that the literary exercise of `avadhanam' was available only in Telugu. If such literary forms were effective in driving home messages among the people on the need to extensively use mother tongue more than others, State Government would extend any help required, he wrote. Film actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao, film producer and `Sahaja Kavi' M.S. Reddy, and Managing Director, Shantha Biotech, K.V. Varaprasada Reddy were present. Gnanpeeth awardee C. Narayana Reddy presided over the gathering. Earlier, in his welcome address, M.K. Ramu, president of `Rasamayi', the cultural organisation that organised the month-long Sahasra avadhaanam said Dr. Mohan had recited 5,009 instant poems. The poems were replies to questions on five subjects that about 1,000 litterateurs from the districts shot at him in the past 30 days, moderated by Telugu professors Elluri Siva Reddy and Tirumala Srinivasacharyulu.
