Erratic power supply affects water too
Swathi Shivanand
BANGALORE:
Disruptions in water supply are common in the city during summer, thanks to erratic power supply.
On March 3, water supply in the entire city was thrown out of gear and was restored to normality only late evening. The reservoir at Torekadinahalli (T.K. Halli) did not receive power for three hours from the Central Grid Station at Maddur.
"We need uninterrupted power supply to pump water at the two stations. We need to pump about 50 cycles of water per second to be able to fill the city's ground level reservoirs. But the power supply we get becomes unpredictable in summer and we find it difficult to pump water to the reservoirs," a BWSSB spokesperson said.
