CHENNAI : A 48-year old woman in Kasimedu died after a portion of balcony in a private building collapsed on her on Tuesday evening Kanagarathinam, mother of three children, was on her way to visit her daughter living elsewhere when the accident occurred. Police said that she stopped to talk to an acquaintance on Periya Thanthi Street when a portion of the balcony on the second floor of a private structure there collapsed. She died on way to the hospital. Her acquaintance sustained minor injuries. The Kasimedu police are investigating the case.
Patricide
A 60-year-old man was done to death allegedly by his son at Keelkattalai on Tuesday morning. The Madipakkam police said that Paramasivam, a retired State Government employee, was arranging wooden logs at his house on Eswaran Koil Street, Keelkattalai. His son, Rajapandian, 37, an employee of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation, objected to his doing the work. The two had an argument and in a fit of rage, Rajapandian hit his father fatally with a log. The police have registered a case and arrested Rajapandian.
