Coimbatore: After an eventful leg in South Africa, A1 Team India is keen to secure its first podium finish in the ninth round of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport to be held at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriquez circuit in Mexico City this weekend. With only three rounds to go in the 2007 season, the team will be aiming to translate the front-running pace they have shown in Durban, South Africa, into a podium finish. Narain Karthikeyan wants to forget those bitter problems he had with the car in South Africa and concentrate on doing a good job. "This will be my third A1GP event and I am starting to really understand the characteristics of the car. With no testing opportunities, all our learning has been confined to race weekends, and we will now be able to capitalise on this in Mexico." He says the set-up of the car will be vital. "The circuit is extremely bumpy and the combination of corners and a long straight will require the car to be carefully balanced. Also, I have just a couple of days to acclimatise myself before getting on track." Narain feels the circuit will give the team more scope to push the car to its limits. "I'm expecting to finish among the top three." Sport Reporter
