Bankmen drop strike plan

Aarti Dhar

NEW DELHI: Employees of public sector banks on Wednesday dropped their plan for a three-day strike from March 28, following an "understanding'' with the Indian Banks' Association.

However, All-India Bank Employees Association general secretary C.H. Venkatachalam said the strike was only deferred and could be called "anytime'' if the promises were not honoured. Among other things, they were demanding a second option of pension and compassionate appointments.
