Corrections and Clarifications

* The caption of a PTI standalone picture titled "Holy dip" (March 20, 2007) was: "Solar Eclipse: Devotees take a holy dip at the Sangam, Allahabad, as a partial solar eclipse was witnessed in different parts of the nation, in Allahabad on Monday." It should have been "Solar Eclipse: Devotees take a holy dip at Kurukshetra ... ."

* A report "Nod for additional DA instalment release" (Delhi edition, March 17, 2007, page 5), referred to the financial year 2007-08 as from January 2007 to February 2008. Our Special Correspondent clarifies that the additional DA is being given with retrospective effect from January 1, 2007, and the arrears and extra DA will be paid with the salary for March 2007, payable in April 2007. Consequently, the financial burden for the year 2007-08 would be for 14 months (including January 2007 and February 2007). The financial year is from April to the following March.

* In an AP report "Canada makes England work for win" ("Sport", March 20, 2007), on a World Cup match at the Beausejour Cricket Ground, the sentence was: "Canada was 35 for three by the 11th over and 64 for four in the 18th before [Ashif] Mulla took control of the innings." The scoreboard gave the fall of wickets as 3-51 and 4-65. The scoreboard is right.
