KATHMANDU: Twentyfour persons have died in a clash between cadres of the Communist Party of Nepal(Maoist) and the Madhesi People's Rights Forum (MPRF) on Wednesday in Rautahat district's headquarters Gaur, some 400 km from Kathmandu. Most of the dead are said to be Maoist activists but it is yet to be verified independently. Police said most of them died of bullet injuries following a clash on holding a mass meeting. Both the parties had announced their mass meetings for Wednesday at the same time and venue. Vviolence erupted after the MPRF cadres ransacked the stage prepared by the Maoists for the meeting. The MPRF cadres and the Maoist-affiliated Terai Liberation Front have been increasingly clashing in recent days since both of them compete for the same vote bank and are trying to outdo each other.
