Training in waste disposal

KOZHIKODE: Training was provided on `Waste disposal management' at a programme organised as part of the National Environment Campaign on Waste Disposal at Vellimadukunnu here on Wednesday. The programme was organised under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests, Darsanam Samskarika Vedi, Kalandithazham and the Thiruvananthapuram-based Centre for Environment and Development.

Thayat Balan, social activist and the former chairman of the Juvenile Board, inaugurated the programme which was organised as part of World Forest Day that fell on Wednesday and World Water Day that will be observed on Thursday.

M.R. Venugopal, scientist, Centre for Water Resources Development and Management, spoke on `Garbage free water and environment.'

P.N. Anil Kumar of the Agriculture Department and environmental activist K.K. Saheer spoke on the hazards of water and environment pollution.
