CHENNAI: Rotary Club of Madras Central, along with clubs of Madras T.Nagar and Chennai East R.A.Puram, jointly conferred the Vocational Excellence Award on actor Vadivelu recently. Film director Bharathirajaa, who was the chief guest, lauded the acting talent of Vadivelu, whose first film with the filmmaker was "Kizhaku Chemaiyile". Abirami Ramanathan of Abirami Mega Mall said Vadivelu was a star for all seasons. "Normally one cannot see so many kids for a vocational excellence award function. The turnout of children here is because of Vadivelu." Replying to felicitations, Vadivelu said he was delighted to receive the award. The comedian spoke about his middle class background, the magic of MGR's films and why the lyric of the MGR film `Nan Yein Piranthein' had a special significance for him. Rotary Club presidents Vinod Sarogi, V. Vasudevan and P. Srinivasan spoke. A 22-minute comedy clipping featuring Vadivelu with actors Rajinikanth, Parthiban and others was shown on the occasion.
