Kakinada: The annual credit plan for East Godavari district for 2007-08 has been finalised for Rs.2590.53 crores and the plan document is expected to be released in a week.

According to official sources, the potential linked plan prepared by the NABARD that provided information to banks and development departments on the potential available in respect of rural economic activities of the district, has been taken as the basis for the annual credit plan. Under the annual credit plan, Rs.1108.44 crores was earmarked for crop loans, Rs.301.96 crores for agricultural term loans and Rs.250 crores for SHG linkage, thus taking the total allocation to agriculture sector to Rs.1660.40 crores. When compared to the previous year's plan, it has registered an increase of 13.08 per cent. Similarly for non-farm sector and small-scale industries sector the allocation was Rs. 451.51 crores, which is 19.71 per cent higher than the previous plan. The allocation for other priority sector was to the tune of Rs. 478.62 crores.

Crop loans

The plan shows an increase of Rs. 72.95 crores for crop loans ands Rs.119.06 crores under agricultural term loans when compared to the outlays of previous year's plan. As a part of the scheme to extend credit to tenant cultivators, the plan has proposed to cover 5,000 Rythu Mitra groups .The major thrust on financing woman self-help groups (SHGs) continued in the new plan also with Rs.250 crores outlay is made for covering 25,000 SHGs. The outlay for other sectors includes Rs.22 crores for PMRY and Rs.188 crores for housing.
