First day was hassle-free

No report of malpractice from Dharwad, Haveri and Gadag districts


  • Special squads formed at the district and taluk levels
  • Arrangements made for video recording at centres

    DHARWAD: The first day of SSLC examination passed off smoothly without any report of malpractice in Dharwad, Haveri and Gadag districts on Wednesday.

    The first language examination was held on Wednesday.

    In Dharwad district, 502 of the total 20,450 candidates were absent. In the 72 examination centres, heavy bandobast arrangements were made.

    The examination pattern also gave little scope for indulging in malpractice, said V.M. Patil, Deputy Director of Public Instruction, Dharwad. He said special squads, one each under the Deputy Commissioner, DDPI and the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Officer, had been constituted at the district level. There was one special squad at the taluk level in each taluk. He said there were no problems in conducting the examination. In Haveri district, the examination was conducted smoothly.

    Relieved from duty

    DDPI Bellad informed that three teachers belonging to unaided educational institutions were found deputed as supervisors at the examination centres.

    Immediately, they were relieved from duty and other teachers from aided institutions were given the responsibility.

    As many as 17,480 students are appearing for the examination in the district at 69 centres. The details of the number of absentees on the first day were not available.

    In Gadag district, only 13,378 candidates wrote the examination the first day.

    DDPI Nagaralli informed that arrangements for video recording have been already made at centres in view of the mathematics examination on Thursday.
