ONGOLE: Teachers bungled question papers in both SSC and Intermediate examinations at Ongole and Giddalur in Prakasam district on Wednesday. The bungling in Intermediate examination at Adarsa Junior College, Giddalur, necessitated cancellation of one set of question papers in geology examination of Junior Intermediate all over the State. The bungling in SSC examination in PVR municipal high school for girls at Ongole led to suspension of two invigilators and relieving the Chief Superintendent and departmental officer of examination duties. It is stated that the principal of Adarsa College took delivery of geology question papers meant for First Year Intermediate examination instead of Second Year. When he handed over the question papers to the invigilators, they discovered the goof-up. The principal immediately rushed to the police station, returned the question papers and took the second year question papers. So the examination commenced an hour late. Students were given an extra hour to compensate for the loss.
Probe
As only the bundles containing one set of question papers was opened, the Intermediate Board was requested to cancel that set. So the first year examination in geology can be held as usual on March 24 with the other three sets which were not tampered with. District Collector B Udaya Lakshmi said the Regional Intermediate Officer was inquiring into the incident to fix responsibility. In another incident relating to the SSC examination, invigilators issued wrong question paper to six students at PVR municipal high school for girls at Ongole. They distributed Sanskrit question paper (03T) instead of Telugu question paper (01T) by mistake. Students realised the mistake two hours after the examination began. The invigilators swung into action, struck off the answers they had written, supplied them Telugu question paper and asked them to answer it. When the students raised a hue and cry that they did not have enough time, the issue came to the notice of the Chief Superintendent and departmental officer. District Education Officer Mallikarjuna Sastry said the papers would be corrected for 50 marks instead of 80 and students could write Telugu examination for remaining 50 marks. After inquiry, he announced suspension of two invigilators. When teachers protested, he relieved the Chief Superintendent and departmental officer of duties.
