Sex education in schools opposed

Special Correspondent

GULBARGA: The Students Islamic Organisation of India has opposed the Centre's decision to introduce sex education from classes 6 to 12 in all CBSE and State syllabus schools across the country.

Members of the organisation took out a procession in Gulbarga city.

They also staged a protest in front of the Sardar Vallabhai Patel Chowk and the Deputy Commissioner's office. They demanded that the Union Government withdraw its proposal to introduce sex education in the schools. It could have harmful consequences, they said.

Moral education

In a memorandum addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, the organisation said that the Union Government should introduce moral education instead.

Staff Correspondent writes from Bidar:

Members of the Students Islamic Organisation staged a dharna in Bidar on Wednesday against the move to introduce sex education in schools. They sat in silent protest for over two hours in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office, and submitted a memorandum to him.
