Pakistan makes a solid start

Kingston: Pakistan was 134 for two after 24 overs against Zimbabwe in an ICC World Cup Group `D' match here on Wednesday.

Pakistan has been eliminated from the competition while Zimbabwe has a chance of progressing to the Super Eight stage if it wins this duel.

Put in by Zimbabwe, Pakistan lost makeshift opener Kamran Akmal for 15, caught by 'keeper Brendon Taylor off paceman Elton Chigumbura. However, regular opener Imran Nazir (59 batting, 66b, 7x4, 1x6) played a few solid strokes.

Shoaib Malik promised much before being taken by Chamu Chibhabha off left-arm spinner Sean Williams for 21.

Skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq, in his final ODI appearance for Pakistan, was unbeaten on a 22-ball 28.
