Forum rejects mobile distributor appeal

Comply with district forum order, the company told

CUTTACK: The State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission has rejected an appeal of a Bhubaneswar-based Nokia handset distributor company at admission stage and directed the M/s Max International to honour the judgment of a district consumer disputes redressal forum.

The Bargarh district forum in January this year had asked the Nokia distributor to refund Rs 11,500, the price of a handset to one Ashish Pansari of Baragarh district, who had purchased a Nokia handset of N 6600 model that subsequently was damaged during the warranty period.

The mobile phone distributor company had challenged the district forum's judgment and had made an appeal to State Commission. Commission President Justice R K Patra and member Subash Mahatab in their order passed recently observed that the appeal of the company had no merit and rejected it at the time of admission.

Stating that the Company has been rightly found guilty for deficiency in service, the Commission asked the erring company to comply with the district forum's order.
