Staff Correspondent

HASSAN: Theatre artistes took out protest rally in Hassan on Tuesday led by president of Hassan Zilla Ranga Bhoomi Kalavidara Sangha Ha. Ma. Shivanna and secretary Karle Rangaswamy.

They enacted a scene from Mahabharatha near Hemavathi statue and sung a song on Cauvery. A large number of people from the Devanga community took out a protest rally in Hassan on Wednesday. In a memorandum to the President of India, Hassan Zilla Devanga Sangha asked the Government to reject the tribunal judgment.

Members of the Bhavasara Kshatriya Mandali, who also took out a procession, submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner stating that Cauvery was the lifeline of the people here and the judgment if implemented would create tension in Karnataka besides creating a drinking water problem. They appealed to the Centre to set right the anomaly.

Agitators submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner K.H. Aswathanarayana Gowda.
