YSR to launch `Arogya Sri' on March 31

  • Families below the poverty line to be extended Medicare
  • Scheme being launched also in Anantapur and Srikakulam

    MAHABUBNAGAR: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajashekara Reddy will launch `Arogya Sri', a health insurance scheme, at Mahabubnagar on March 31, according to district Collector V. Usha Rani.

    Addressing a specially convened meeting of medical officers here on Wednesday, the Collector said that scheme would provide Medicare to families living below the poverty line.

    Persons suffering from ailments of heart, kidney, cancer, burns, neuro and spinal cord problems would be covered and extended medical insurance up to Rs. 2 lakhs.

    Ms. Usha Rani called upon medical officers to make effective publicity of the scheme at village level.

    She said all A.P.V.V.P hospitals and PHC's in the district would be deployed with members of `Arogya mitras' for identification of patients.

    Chief Executive Officer, Arogya Sri Health Care Trust, A. Babu, said that the scheme would be introduced as pilot project in Ananthapur, Srikakulam and Mahabubnagar districts and added that the Chief Minister was keen on expanding the scheme to all the districts on the basis of success achieved.

    Surgeries

    He also said that of the six diseases identified under the scheme, some 163 types of surgeries had to be performed for which Government was utilising the services of super specialty hospitals including NIMS, Gandhi, Osmania and Apollo.

    The C.E.O said that these hospitals would set up stalls in Mahabubnagar on March 31.
