MANGALORE: The 27th "Krishi mela" organised by the Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) will be held in Bantwal from April 4 to April 6. President of the SKDRDP D. Veerendra Heggade told presspersons here on Wednesday that panel discussions on issues such as agriculture, water harvesting, fodder management, animal nutrition, empowerment of rural women through self employment, development of rural infrastructure for future farming, integrated farming techniques and water shed development, would be held as part of the mela. The Krishi Vignana Kendra of Mangalore would organise a farmers' counselling centre. The focus would be on demonstration and display of agricultural machineries suited for cultivation practices in the coastal areas, Dr. Heggade said. The Dakshina Kannada Milk Producers' Cooperative Union had planned a mega cattle show in collaboration with local milk societies. Experts in rural development and farming will address farmers on the three days. Agriculture Minister Bandeppa Kashempur will attend the valedictory function. District in-charge Minister B. Nagaraj Shetty will preside over the function.
