Power shutdown

Power supply will be disrupted in the following areas on Thursday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. due to maintenance work to be taken up in 11 KV Allipuram feeder by EPDCL: Ramakrishna theatre junction, Kobbarithota part, 75 feet road, Geeth-Sangeeth theatre junction, Mirapayakayala Street, Sai Baba Street, Narayanan Street, Venkateswara Metta part, Captain Rama Rao junction, Devangula Street, Chalova Thota and Allipuram Main Road.

Office-bearers elected

The Visakhapatnam unit of AP Electronic Media Journalists Association at its meeting here on Wednesday unanimously elected the following persons as office-bearers: President - R. Babu Rao (Cable Vision), vice-presidents - M.V. Sekhar (Sri Devi Vision) and Surya Prakash (TV 9), secretary - K. COSMET meet

Young engineers have a bright future in the global steel industry, said director (operations) of VSP P.K. Misra in his keynote address during the inaugural function of Conference of Students, Metallurgical Engineers and Technologists (COSMET) 2007 here on Wednesday. COSMET 2007 was organised by the Department of Metallurgical Engineering of Andhra University. Vice-Chancellor L. Venugopal Reddy and principal of AUCE Allam Appa Rao congratulated the department for its achievements in academics, research and consultancy projects. Both sought more institution-industry interaction. HoD N.B.R. Mohan Rao presided. The programme was sponsored by TEQUIP.

Seminar on R.K. Narayan

Andhra University Department of English is conducting a National seminar on R.K. Narayan at the AU Assembly Hall here on March 23. Editor of Triveni I.V. Chalapathi Rao will deliver the keynote address, according to seminar director and HoD B. Parvathi.

Exam centre changed

The I and II year degree examinations to be held at the Ushadaya Degree College and Sri Shirdi Sai Srinivasa Degree College at Chodavaram from March 24 will be held at Government Degree College, Chodavaram, according to a press release from Controller of Examinations of AU G. Gavarraju here on Wednesday.
