Staff Reporter

Fire escape act at People's Plaza, Necklace Road, tomorrow

  • Uday Bhaskar to perform the daredevil fire escape feat
  • Magician Ali to ride a bike blindfolded for a distance of 6 km

Hyderabad: Playing with fire is his forte. And he will do it in full public view and come out unscathed.

Come March 23 and one can see Uday Bhaskar performing the fire escape act at the Peoples Plaza, Necklace Road. His friend, Ali, will ride a bike blindfolded the same evening for a distance of 6 km.

The daredevil acts would be performed under the auspices of the Andhra Pradesh Magic Academy and Navarasa Arts. The feats were intended to showcase the magical prowess of the State conjurors, Marri Ramesh, secretary, Andhra Pradesh Magic Academy, told presspersons here on Wednesday.

    Handcuffed

Before the thrilling act, Mr. Bhaskar would be handcuffed and chained. Then through a crane he would be lifted and lowered into a haystack, which would be set on afire. In less than 28 seconds, Mr. Bhaskar would escape from the burning inferno unlocking the chains. When he emerges he would not be in the same clothes but would don an Army outfit hold the tricolour. "It is nothing but adventurous mass illusion," Mr. Bhaskar said. He had done a la Houdini in 2000 for the first time at Amberpet police grounds. Two years later he repeated it at Vishakapatnam and Jamshedpur.

Before the fire escape act, magician Ali would ride a bike blindfolded from Necklace Road, Sanjeevaiah Park, Boats Club, Tank Bund and NTR Gardens covering a distance of 6 km.

What do the magicians call their performance?

They have named it `Uday-Ali rhythm of Vande Mataram'.
