Jumbling system put in force for teachers too

Staff Reporter

It is to offset criticism of favouritism in allocation of centres, says DEO

GUNTUR: The jumbling system was not limited to just students appearing for Class X examination, it was implemented even for teachers carrying out invigilation duties at these examination centres.

The examinations began on a peaceful note on Wednesday, except for suicide by a student for some personal reasons. District Educational Officer Movva Ramalingam said that jumbling system was put in use to preempt any criticism of favouritism over the allocation of centres for teachers.

``We had prepared a database of all teachers and with the help of a customised software, we had allocated centres,'' he said. Class X examinations were held at 262 centres with 99.28 per cent of the 60,544 registered students writing the Second Language, Telugu.

Students along with their anxious parents were seen making a beeline to the examination centres at 8 a.m. itself. The DEO said that all the monitoring personnel, including 16 sitting squads and 11 flying squads visited the centres and reported no irregularities.

VIJAYAWADA: The SSC examination commenced on a peaceful note in Krishna district on Wednesday, with no case of malpractice being reported from any part of the district.

Flying squads

The 12 flying squads constituted to monitor the examination centres visited 101 of the total 277 centres. State observer for the examination P. Parasuram visited eight centres across the district.

Responding to the pleas of a few Chief Superintendents to send the question papers to the examination centres a little early, Krishna District Education Officer D. V. Krishna Vinayak asked the officials concerned to advance by five minutes the process of withdrawing question papers from the storage points, i.e. police stations, where the question papers are safeguarded.

"I visited five centres to ascertain the facts and found that the question papers reached just about in time.

Care is taken to make sure that there is no gap between the arrival and the distribution of the question papers in the examination centres to prevent any leak," said Dr. Vinayak.

The DEO said that the advancement of withdrawal of question papers from the storage points by five minutes was to do away with tension among the examination personnel. Question papers kept in the police stations located in the city would be withdrawn exactly at 9 a.m., while the ones safeguarded in the `C' category storage points (police stations located outside the city) would be withdrawn between 8.35 a.m. and 8.40 a.m., he said.
