Telangana forum flays proposal to tap Godavari

`Move will deprive north Telangana from its only source of water'

HYDERABAD:
The Telangana Vidyavantula Vedika has opposed Government's decision to bring Godavari water from its tributary Pranahita to Hyderabad, saying the move was politically motivated and would deprive people of north Telangana of their only source of water.
The move was only to divert Krishna water to Rayalaseema region and exploit Godavari, which was the lifeline of Telangana, for the State capital and coastal districts, Vedika president M. Kodanda Ram and general secretary C. Vittal said here on Wednesday.
In a statement, they said Hyderabad was already drawing water from Singur at the expense of the farmers of Medak and Nizamabad and `no more violation of Telangana waters was acceptable'.
