Admissions open for clinical data course

The Institute of Clinical Research (India) has invited applications for its one-year part-time postgraduate diploma in Clinical Data Management. The course is slated to begin in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi on March 24, on Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Here is a glimpse of what the course has in store for the student: Clinical Trial Process; Clinical Trial Design; Ethics and Good Clinical Practice; Clinical Data Management; Quality Systems, SOPs and Audits; Regulatory Affairs and Compliance; Safety Management and Pharmacovigilance; Statistical Analysis and Reporting; Database Design and Data Models; Documentation and Documentation Management System; Medical Coding and Dictionaries; Project Management; and Security Systems. College Day

"Being a graduate is not enough to step into the new world. Assess your strengths and keep the avenues for higher studies always open," said J. Philip, former Director of IIMB and XIME president speaking on the occasion of the College Day and Graduation Day of St. Francis de Sales Degree College here recently.

Anthony Devraj, Deputy Registrar, Bangalore University, who was the chief guest, urged the students to take hold of opportunities available to achieve their goals.

In his address, Joseph of Biocon India Ltd., called upon the college authorities to strengthen the link between core competencies available and the competencies that respond to the current demands.

Prof. Philip and Mr. Antony Devraj gave away graduation certificates and proficiency prizes to meritorious students. Nine students were awarded graduation certificates and 14 others for their meritorious performance.

PES ties up with

U.S. varsity

The Peoples Education Society (PES) Institutions recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, U.S., for academic and student exchanges between the two institutions.

The collaboration is aimed at boosting academic partnership in various courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels to enhance academic standards that will suit the requirements of the industry. The tie-up was designed to improve international understanding; enhance the development of joint educational researches; and to increase individual educational opportunities.

National symposium

The Post Graduate Department of Life Science, a unit of Oxford Group of Colleges, has organised "Jnanarjana 2007," a national symposium on "Breakthrough in Molecular Diagnostics" on March 22 and 23 at the department's Bommanahalli campus on Hosur Road.

About 3,000 students from various parts of the country were expected to participate in the event.

Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy will inaugurate the event while Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Vice-Chancellor K. Balaveera Reddy will deliver the keynote address.

Amaze 2007

The annual festival of the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) "Amaze `07" has taken up a cause "The millennium development goals" and the festival will become a platform to spread awareness about these objectives.

The fest will feature a Global Youth Debate Conclave, featuring students discussing the millennium goals and a "Breakthrough" manager who will push the envelope of conventional boundaries.

On the agenda is a photography contest and a Podcast competition besides a Quiz, Mad Ads, Stock Market Games and Flip Back. For details, call 9886792004.
