KOCHI: The Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit authorities said on Wednesday that the varsity budget was a continuation process of many projects and initiatives of previous years. A release issued by the university said that the budget was a long-term plan. It was a fact that the university mentioned about the consortium of the fine arts departments for the first time in its 2006-07 budget. Certain steps had already been taken during the last year to start the consortium. Naturally, the continuation process would be mentioned in the current budget. Then only it would be able to materialise the proposal, the release said. The university took the decision to start self-financing courses last year. The Indian Council of Architecture and the National Council for Technical Education had given sanction to start the courses in the self-financing sector. But the Government refused to give sanction for starting self-financing courses last year. The university had not given up the proposal to start self-financing courses, the release said.
