Dharmapuri: Collector Pankaj Kumar Bansal on Thursday launched an Annual Credit Plan (ACP) with a credit outlay of Rs.544.56 crore for Dharmapuri district for 2007-08 an increase of 20 per cent over the previous year. Assistant General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, P.M. Rajagopal, received the first copy. Out of the total plan, agriculture gets a lion's share of Rs.356.82 crore forming 66 per cent of the total credit outlay. The projected outlay for industrial sector is Rs.56.85 crore (10 per cent). Besides this Rs.130.89 crore (24 per cent) has been allocated for various sectors, including retail trade, small business, professional and self-employed, transport, housing and education loans etc. In addition, Rs.161.15 crore has been allotted for implementation of various government schemes including SGSY, PMRY, TAHDCO, SGSRY and direct linkages of SHGs with banks. Deputy General Manager, Indian Bank, G. Muthappan, said that the deposit of all commercial banks as on December 31, 2006 was Rs.621.92 crore and advance of Rs.793.24 crore. Advances to agriculture were Rs.419.08 crore constituting 53 per cent against the Government target of 18 per cent. The priority sector accounts for Rs.655.22 crore constituting 83 per cent as against the target of 40 per cent. Loan assistance for SC/ST, small and marginal farmers was Rs.296.96 crore (30 per cent) as against the target of 10 per cent.
