Guru Institute, the theatre group known for its comedies, is back in town with three of its popular plays, All the Best, Raashi Chakra and Sahi Re Sahi. Each of the three-hour plays will be staged separately on three dates between March 23 and March 25 and between March 30 and April 1 at H.N. Kalakshetra in National College, Jayanagar. The plays are being staged as part of MTR Rangasambrama, an experiment to promote theatre as a medium for advertising. Yashwant Sirdeshpande, actor and founder of the group, feels such an experiment would not only help generate revenue for the theatre, but also offer companies a platform to advertise their products through an effective and cost-effective manner. To start with, the troupe was roped in by the MTR in October 2005. Starting with Bangalore, it toured the State to promote the concept of "healthy humour and healthy food" where the audience was treated to a comedy and dinner made of MTR ready mixes. It is now back in Bangalore to stage the last two programmes of its contract with the MTR. On March 23, the group will stage All the Best, a play of three young men, one dumb, another deaf and the last blind, falling in love with the same girl. The next day is Raashi Chakra, which takes off on the 12 raashis. And on March 25, it is the turn of Sahi Re Sahi that revolves around a rich man with avaricious relatives waiting for him to kick the bucket. The plays will be staged from March 30 to April 1 in the same order. For tickets, visit KSRTC outlets in Jayanagar, Malleswaram, Rajajinagar and Vijayanagar; Dharwad Mishra Pedha outlets in Bank Colony, Gandhi Bazaar, Basaveshwaranagar, and Rajajinagar; Sapna Book House and Ankita Pustaka in Gandhi Nagar.
