Acquiring new skills

Age is no barrier to learning. Even for getting a few tips on technical subjects.

A group of pensioners in Beypore grama panchayat has proved that acquiring new skills in the cyber age is not that difficult.

The spread of e-literacy programme in the district prompted these pensioners, including an octogenarian Gopi Master, to approach the Akshaya Centre at Beypore through the Kerala State Service Pensioners Association to study computers. Thus with the wholehearted support of the authorities concerned, a new Akshaya centre was opened for the 22 pensioners, including five women, at G.L.P. School at Beypore. Akshaya entrepreneur S. Saneesh rendered all help to them. Minister for Industries Elamaram Karim had inaugurated the centre.
