Malik, Mundy in 39th spot

Ria Bintan (Indonesia): Amardip Malik and Uttam Singh Mundy (both one-under-par 71) were in 39th spot after a tough opening day for Indians at the Motorola International Bintan golf tournament on Thursday.

Digvijay Singh with an even-par-72 was tied 56th even as American veteran Mike Cunning and New Zealand's Mark Brown established a new course record of six-under-par 66 at the inaugural $350,000 Asian Tour event at the picturesque Ria Bintan Golf Club.

Arjun Singh (74, 87th spot), Amandeep Johl (75, 101st), Vivek Bhandari (76, 114th), Gurbaaz Mann (77, 127th) and Amritinder Singh (80, 145th) are the other Indians in the fray. — PTI
