Sasikiran holds Yifan

NEW DELHI: K. Sasikiran drew with Chinese prodigy Hou Yifan to tally two points after five rounds of the Ruy Lopez International chess tournament at Zafra, Spain, on Wednesday.

With two rounds to go, Sasikiran is sixth, ahead of the two ladies, Hou Yifan and former women's World champion Antoaneta Stefanova in the eight-player field.

The results (fifth round): Hou Yifan (Chn, 1) drew with K. Sasikiran (2); Gabriel Sargissian (Arm, 4.5) lost to Ruslan Ponomariov (Ukr, 2.5); Manuel Perez Candelario (Esp, 3) drew with Julio Granda Zuniga (Per, 3); Antoaneta Stefanova (Bul, 1.5) lost to Ivan Sokolov (Ned, 2.5).
