NEW DELHI: The Editors Guild of India on Thursday condemned the "intimidatory tactics" adopted by the Karnakata police against the Editor-in-Chief and owner of Karavali Ale newspaper published from Mangalore. Condemning the manner in which Editor-in-Chief B. V. Seetaram and his wife Ms. Seetaram, director of Chitra Publications which owns the publication, were dragged out of their home at midnight and taken into custody, the Guild sought an independent enquiry and action against the guilty police officials. The Guild said the Editor feared a conspiracy to eliminate him as the "police are enraged over reports of the nexus with a transport mafia which appeared in his newspaper." The Guild has written to the Governor and the CM demanding an immediate stop to the harassment.
