72 students selected for IT, BPO jobs

TIRUCHI: Infosys Technologies Limited chose 43 students for Information Technology-related jobs and 29 for Business Process Outsourcing jobs on Thursday at the end of a two-day campus interview it conducted at the St. Joseph's College for undergraduate students of various arts and science colleges.

For the IT jobs, only those who had been consistently maintaining a score of 60 per cent and more since standard X examinations, and without any standing arrears in college examinations till date were eligible to participate.

Of the 385 students screened, 83 were selected to appear for the aptitude test and 43 were chosen for a package of Rs. 12,500 a month after group discussions and interview, said I. Francis Gnanasekar, Co-ordinator, St. Joseph's College Placement Cell.

Norm relaxed

The norm was, however, relaxed for BPO jobs. Out of the 95 students screened, 73 undertook the aptitude test and 29 secured jobs, according to L. Arockiam, Assistant Coordinator of the Placement Cell. These students will receive a pay of Rs. 9,500 a month upon appointment.
