KATHMANDU: Maoist Chairman Prachanda has demanded a ban on Madhesi People's Rights Forum and action against its leaders and cadres for committing the "barbaric" murder of 28 persons in Gaur on Wednesday. A press statement issued on Prachanda's behalf said the Gaur incident was a conspiracy to disrupt Constituent Assembly elections scheduled for mid-June. "Palace, Hindu fundamentalists in India, and foreign forces are hand-in-gloves to stop the election," Prachanda said. He said armed groups from across the border were involved in the Gaur shooting. He claimed there was no firing from the Maoists' side. "It was clearly one-sided firing from the Forum people." Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula, who returned to Kathmandu after visiting Gaur, said the incident was "barbaric" and expressed the commitment of the Government to take action against the culprits.
