ON A PILGRIMAGE: Governor Rameshwar Thakur being extended a warm welcome by Vice-Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara Vedic University S. Sudarsana Sarma at the Tirupati airport on Thursday.
TIRUPATI: Governor Rameshwar Thakur arrived at the Renigunta airport here on Thursday on a three-day visit to Tirumala and Tirupati. The Governor's main agenda on hand is to chair the high-power committee meeting of Sri Venkateswara Vedic University, which was newly formed at Tirupati under the auspices of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). A brainchild of Mr. Thakur, the varsity was conceptualised to be the umbrella organisation of various institutions in the State offering vedic and traditional education. The Governor was accorded a traditional and ceremonial reception at the tarmac by district Collector S.S. Rawat, TTD Executive Officer A.P.V.N. Sarma, Joint EO N. Srikant, Superintendent of Police T.V.Sasidhar Reddy, Vice-Chancellors -- S. Jayarama Reddy (SV University) and S. Sudarsana Sarma (SV Vedic University) among others. Mr. Thakur will leave for Hyderabad on Saturday.
