Collector reviews job scheme, functioning of PDS

KADAPA: The Government has sanctioned Rs. 1 crore for construction of houses in Gundlur village in Rajampet mandal under second phase of Indiramma programme, District Collector M.T. Krishna Babu said on Wednesday.

Pucca houses would replace every hutment in Indiramma model villages, as per the Government's goal, the Collector said at a gram sabha in Gundlur village. He enquired with people on supply of essential commodities through public distribution system and availability of work under Andhra Pradesh Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and drinking water availability.

When people complained of irregular supply of essential commodities by a fair price shop dealer Padmanabhaiah, he directed Tahsildar Rajagopal to impose a fine of Rs. 1,000 on the dealer. The fair price shop should be entrusted to a DWCRA group if the dealer did not mend ways, he said.

Some beneficiaries complained that housing employees sold away construction material. The Collector warned that guilty officials would be arrested.
