All white cardholders to be made SHG members

Special plan of action formulated to check migration of poor


  • Woman SHGs given loans to the tune of Rs. 83 crores
  • `Pavala vaddi' loans to be given under `Praja Patham'

    KADAPA: All white ration cardholders and people of poorer sections should be made members of self-help groups by June-end, T. Vijaya Kumar, CEO, Society for Eradication of Rural Poverty (SERP) said on Thursday.

    A special plan of action has been formulated to check migration of poor and to bring them into SHGs, he said at a videoconference with DRDA Project Directors. Enrolment of all white ration cardholders in SHGs was mooted in order to bring middle classes too into the groups, he said. Woman SHGs should be given loans as per their need.

    Kadapa DRDA Project Director G. Ashok Reddy said woman SHGs were given loans to the tune of Rs. 83 crores so far this year and the figure could reach Rs. 90-crore mark by March-end.
