Six teachers suspended for examination malpractice

  • 140 arrested, six students debarred in Bidar

    Raichur: Six teachers, including two members of sitting squad, one chief invigilator, one examination supervisor, and three room supervisors, were placed under suspension for allegedly indulging in malpractices and encouraging mass copying in various examination centres for the SSLC examination in Raichur Education District on Thursday.

    Another room supervisor was arrested by the Raichur police while he was allegedly encouraging mass copying at an examination centre in a school at Jaheerabad Locality in Raichur city.

    They also arrested a person while he was allegedly passing copies of answer sheets into an examination centre at the Hamdard Junior College in Raichur city.

    A student was debarred from an examination centre from Jawaharnagar high school in Raichur city for copying and another four students were expelled on charges of malpractices.

    Surprise visits

    Madan Gopal, Commissioner of Education, who arrived here on Wednesday along with a special squad, has decided to make surprise visits to examination centres in all the districts coming under the Gulbarga Education Division till the SSLC examination is over.

    Gulbarga Special Correspondent writes:

    In Gulbarga and Yadgir Education District, 20 students were debarred and 28 expelled on Thursday for indulging in examination malpractices. Criminal cases have been filed against five persons for impersonation.

    Two chief supervisors and an invigilator have been suspended for dereliction of duty and allowing copying and other kinds of malpractices in an examination centre at Mahagoan in Gulbarga taluk and Old Roza area in Gulbarga city. An invigilator in one of the centres in Aland taluk has also been suspended on the same charges.

    The district administration has relieved two supervisors and 10 invigilators from examination duties for dereliction of duty. Of the students debarred, 19 are from Gulbarga Education District.

    Bijapur Staff Correspondent writes:

    Thirteen students were debarred after they were found copying in the SSLC examination.

    While two staff on examination duty were placed under suspension for serious lapses, six were relieved from examination duty.

    Many students wrote the Mathematics paper sitting on the floor at centres in Kalidas High School and Government School No. 24.

    Bidar Staff Correspondent writes:

    A total of 140 people were arrested on charge of abetting malpractices in the SSLC examination in Bidar on Thursday. The police filed 33 cases against them under the Karnataka Education Act, said a release.

    Six students were debarred and nine were sent out of the examination hall in the district. Of those debarred, five are from Bhalki and one is from Bidar.
