Showcasing tourist spots in Kodagu

Images of the famous tourist spots to be put up at various places

Madikeri: Kodagu Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav has taken steps to identify important tourist spots in the district to promote tourism.

Mr. Yadav, who displayed images of the most visited tourist spots in the district, told The Hindu that the district administration was trying to educate people of their significance. Laminated blow-ups of the Raja Seat, Fort, Gaddige, museum, Omkareshwar temple, temples at Bhagamandala, Talacauvery, statues of General K.S. Thimmaiah, Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa, Irpu Falls in Virajpet taluk, Nisargadhama resort in Kushalnagar, Tadiyandamol Hills, the highest peak in Kodagu, and Nalknad Palace at the base of the hills, were displayed at the Deputy Commissioner's office. The Deputy Commissioner said the pictures would be displayed at all important government offices, the Old Assembly Hall here, auditoriums and places that tourists frequented.

Many local people were also unaware of the importance of these places.

Mr. Yadav said a brochure was being printed to highlight the significance of all tourist spots in the district.
