KOZHIKODE: The National Development Front (NDF) has alleged that the `lathicharge on NDF workers' who had gathered around the Kottakkal police station to enquire about the `illegal detention' of NDF president T.Abdurrahiman Baqhafi and former president A.Sayyid was `part of hunt against Muslims resorted to by the police under the Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government.' The leaders were taken into custody in connection with the violent incidents in Tirur. Addressing newspersons here on Thursday, NDF vice-president K.P.Muhammed Shareef and general secretary P. Abdul Majeed Faisi alleged that the police had `foisted charges on NDF workers that they had attacked the police station and destroyed police vehicles.' Instead, the police had "destroyed the vehicles of NDF workers," they said. They said that legal steps would be taken against `implicating workers in false cases.'
