Thiruvananthapuram: The Home Department on Thursday transferred a key anti-corruption official who was responsible for the investigation of several important cases relating to amassment of wealth through illegal means. The transferred official is A.T. Jose, Superintendent of Police, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (Special Cell) in Kochi. He was investigating a case against Inspector General of Police Tomin Thachankery on the charge of amassing wealth disproportionate to his legal sources of income. The investigation was ordered by the Government in 2001 after it received scores of petitions from public-spirited persons. But there had been little progress in the case for nearly six years. Finally, the High Court had asked the VACB to complete the investigation before June 15, 2007. Mr. Jose, who was leading the investigation team, has been transferred to the capital city, Home department sources said.
