Row over `slapping' of APP in court

Staff Reporter

BERHAMPUR: The Ganjam Bar Association on Thursday convened an emergency meeting to discuss the unsavoury incident in which a lawyer allegedly slapped an assistant public prosecutor (APP) in the presence of the magistrate on the Berhampur court premises on Wednesday.

Vaijayanti Badpanda allegedly slapped Subrat Sahu in the court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class (Transport) following an altercation over the case they were handling, leading to tense moments.

Viewing the incident seriously, the association, while condemning Ms. Panda's behaviour, resolved to serve a notice on her seeking an explanation in three days as to why her name should not be removed from the rolls of the association.
