Team of officials to study the condition of the workers Food security to be provided to unorganised sector
HYDERABAD:
Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has said the Government will soon come out with a policy for workers in the unorganised sector.
A team of officials from the Labour, Municipal Administration and Finance departments will be constituted to study the condition of these workers and submit a report in two months. Making a suo motu statement in the Assembly on Thursday, Dr. Reddy said the team would study the schemes meant for the workers in other states and organise public hearings to consult trade unions and others on the issue.
The Chief Minister affirmed that food and social security would be provided to the unorganised sector at any cost.
All opposition parties welcomed the Chief Minister's plan saying it would benefit the estimated one crore workers. M.A. Gafoor of the CPI(M) pleaded for a separate mechanism for gram sevaks.
P. Janardhan Reddy (Congress) and N. Narsimha Reddy (TRS) wanted MLAs to be involved in work entrusted to the official team.
