KARIMNAGAR: The State unit of BJP Kisan Morcha will take out a Chalo Assembly programme on March 28 demanding that the State Government provide minimum support price to farmers and assure nine-hour power supply among other things. Disclosing this to newsmen here on Thursday, Bharatiya Kisan Morcha State president P. Sugunakar Rao said that a rally would be taken out from Bagh Lingampally to the Assembly. Criticising the State government for failing to check suicides by the farmers, he said that farmers were taking the extreme step as the Government was not ensuring MSP to their produce and increase in production cost. He also found fault with the State Government for not implementing the Jayathi Ghosh committee recommendations on farm sector. The Prime Minister's special package programme also failed to check the increasing number of suicides by farmers. He suggested the Government to waive interest on the farmers' loans which were rescheduled. Expressing concern over the execution of Babli project on river Godavari in neighbouring Maharashtra despite stiff opposition from the farmers of the region, he flayed the State Government for not taking any measures to stop the illegal construction of the project which was detrimental to the interest of SRSP. The completion of Babli project would deny water into the SRSP, which is the lifeline of north Telangana region, he added.
