TIRUNELVELI: The Regional Commissioner, Tirunelveli, and Commissioner, Department of Transport, Chandra Prakash Singh, chaired a meeting here on Thursday to review the ongoing development works in the district. While urging the officials to expedite the schemes being executed by the Department of Horticulture, Mr. Singh told the District Industries Centre to achieve the targets fixed under the Prime Minister's Rozgar Yojana without fail. Primary Health Centres and hospitals in rural areas of the district should have adequate stocks of medicines and keep all equipment in excellent condition to provide timely medical assistance to villagers. Mr. Singh told Tirunelveli Corporation officials to complete the ongoing works on underground drainage scheme and put it into use at the earliest. The progress of development schemes and welfare programmes being implemented by the District Rural Development Agency, town panchayats, Department of Social Welfare, Department of Highways and other departments should be reviewed at frequent intervals and completed within the deadline, Mr. Singh said. The District Revenue Officer, G. Srinivasan, the District Forest Officer, H. Venu Prasad, the Project Officer, District Rural Development Agency, F. Abdul Razick, the Commissioner, Tirunelveli Corporation, T. Mohan, the District Supplies Officer, Suresh Kumar, the Personal Assistant to Collector (General), Anbazhagan, the Joint Director, Cooperative Department, Rajendran, the General Manager, District Industries Centre, Gnanasekar, the Deputy Director (Health), S. Uma, the Dean, Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital, Hemalatha Ganapathi, the Joint Director, Department of Agriculture, Subramanian, the Chief Educational Officer, J. Sathyavathi, and the District Social Welfare Officer, V. Uma Devi, participated.
