DINDIGUL: The Kodaikanal FM channel has planned to extend the broadcasting time till midnight for wider coverage. The channel would broadcast live commentary in Tamil from 7 p.m. on March 23 of Sri Lanka-India cricket World Cup match and has decided to air live commentary of all the matches played by India and also the semi-finals and the finals of the World Cup, according to Jayalal, Deputy Director General of All India Radio. Conveying this to presspersons here on Wednesday, he said our plan is to commence the broadcasting time at 5 a.m. and continue till midnight to add several entertainment programmes. The total revenue of the station has touched Rs.7 crore this year.
Awards to artistes
For the first time, the Kodai FM will honour the best artistes and other technical staff in the film industry. The awards will be given to best actor, actress, character artistes, comedians, music director, poet and best song at a function to be held in Tiruchi on April 8. The programme would be broadcast in Kodai FM on April 14, the Tamil New Year Day. Listeners will elect the awardees from 15 films released between January 1, 2005 and January 1, 2006. They have the right to choose artistes from other films also. A total of 1.25 crore listeners from 22 districts may send their opinion and lists of chosen artistes either through letter, SMS through mobile phone or to the Kodaikanal FM website, he said. "We had received 7,000 letters in this connection so far. They can send their list till April 1." Director, A. Somaskandhamurthy accompanied him.
