DINDIGUL: A total of 20,845 students, including 10,481 boys and 10,364 girls, appeared for the SSLC examinations that commenced at 64 centres in the district on Thursday. As many as 13,434 students, including 6,990 boys and 6,444 girls, in Dindigul educational district and 7,411 students, 3,491 boys and 3,920 girls, in Palani educational district attended the examinations. Special flying squads have been formed to monitor facilities arranged at the centres.
Theni
In Theni district a total of 19,705 students took the exam on Thursday. In Theni educational district 13,317 students, including 7,235 boys and 6,082 girls, and 6,388 students, including 3,337 boys and 3,051 girls, in Uthamapalayam educational district - appeared for the examination. The Department of Education had constituted 14 flying squads, including eight for Theni and six for Uthamapalayam, comprising 54 officials to monitor the examination centres.
Virudhunagar
A total of 22,666 students appeared for the SSLC public examinations that began on Thursday. The Chief Educational Officer, S. Nagaraja Murugan, said 11,786 boys and 10,880 girls took the Tamil Paper I in 63 centres in Virudhunagar and Aruppukottai educational districts. A total of 72 flying squads had been formed to check malpractices in the centres, Dr. Murugan said. The last examination will be held on April 5.
Madurai
A total of 31,401 candidates from 215 schools took the Secondary School Leaving Certificate examinations in the district, which commenced here on Thursday. In all, 16,023 boys and 15,378 girls appeared for Tamil Paper I in 92 centres in the district. A total of 2,707 students appeared for the board examinations as private candidates. Of them, 1,950 were boys and 757 were girls. On Wednesday, 4,976 students took the Matriculation examinations among whom 184 were private candidates. To prevent malpractices, 14 flying squads have been formed. The squads visited all centres and found no irregularities.
