Manipal: The Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Manipal University S.S. Pabla said on Thursday that the Indian academia and industry should work together to keep pace with changing times. He was speaking at the inaugural function of "Industry-institute interaction" organised by the Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, a unit of Manipal University, here. Prof. Pabla said that presently the industry did not trust the academia. The academia thought it had nothing more to do than imparting education. This attitude should change, he said. The industry and academia should trust each other, Prof. Pabla said, adding that it was only then that they could have a mutually beneficial relationship in which the academia could cater to the needs of the industry, he said. K.G. Rajendran of USV Ltd., Mumbai, said that the communication gap between industry and academia should be reduced. Industry should be given a role in preparation of curriculum, he said. Principal of the college N. Udupa welcomed the gathering.
