Budget session begins

CHENNAI: The budget session of the Assembly began on Thursday.

The House adjourned after making obituary references and passing a condolence resolution.

Speaker R. Avudaiappan, who read out the condolence resolution, expressed shock and grief of the House over the passing away of sitting member S.V. Shanmugam. The House also recalled the services of former MLAs K. Pazhanivelan, S. Sundarambal, V. Malaikannan and A. Swamidhas and observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect.

Budget today

The budget for 2007-08 will be presented on Friday. Later, the Business Advisory Committee of the House will meet to decide on the duration of the session.
